SaraniaSat wins two US Air Force SBIR Phase I Awards

SaraniaSat’s two USAF SBIR Phase 1 Awards are for:

Developing SaraniaSat’s “HYFOR” solution for improved weather prediction data products. HYFOR is aimed at adapting SaraniaSat’s commercially successful, high spatial and temporal resolution, hyperspectral imaging, remote-sensing solution for use by the USAF 557th Weather Wing (WW) and NASA as well as customers for their Land Information System (LIS) weather prediction data outputs, such as the US Army Corps of Engineers. The primary benefit of SaraniaSat’s data and information products will be in improved forecasting and early warning of impending, weather-related disasters that could be either averted or minimized through appropriate action.

Developing SaraniaSat’s “CLOUD6” solution to monitor or forecast terrestrial weather with the objective of providing improved global weather data and products. The CLOUD6 solution is aimed at developing a 6U Low Earth Orbiting CubeSat aimed at Cloud Characterization and acquiring Theater Weather Imagery. The high spatial resolution (143m & 228m) combined with high-performance onboard computing using non-linear, weak-signal detection and sensor fusion algorithms will generate a number of cloud properties, moisture and aerosol characterization, ocean and land surface characterization data products with high spatial detail. CLOUD6 will rapidly provide actionable, first- and second-order data and information products to its customers on cloud characterization and theater weather imagery, and characterization of moisture and aerosol profiles, ocean and land surfaces.
